18th-early 19th century. Classic example carried by the fierce mountain fighters who conquered their southern neighbors and fought the British for more than a century. Good 17 1/4" s.e. blade with flat back and very slightly concave face. Wood hilt. Faceted pommel with three silver rosettes, and flared guard. Wood scabbard of characteristic opened face construction which displayed the blade with two engraved silver bands. Silver rosette to the flared scabbard tip. Blade excellent with gray patina. Scarce.
